There have been salt pans below the house for as long as anyone can remember. In summer, the sea is let in through a narrow channel, the sun does most of the work, and the rest is patience.
Raking before the heat
The harvest happens early, while the crystals are still damp and the light is low and pink. Guests are welcome to join. Bring a hat, leave your phone, and expect to be quietly very happy.
What we do with it
Everything from the kitchen to the bath salts in Tramontana comes from these few hundred square metres of shallow water. Take a jar home; it is the best souvenir we know.
