Where the day begins
Levante faces due east, so the first light of the morning arrives here before anywhere else in the house. Lime-washed walls soften it, the shutters break it into ribbons, and by six the whole room glows like the inside of a shell.
There is a deep window seat for the first coffee, a wide bed dressed in heavy linen, and a shower finished in hand-trowelled plaster. Nothing here asks for your attention. That is rather the point.
